		<description>This is a question from Adam Hirch - Mashable.com

Sounds good, anybody try this out yet? I checked out the site, it doesn't mention anything about bandwidth restrictions or quotas, are there any? If not, that would be great, however, the original AIM idea of sharing your files/folders openly was the original version and I think the best too. Unfortunately, AIM made it a little harder to share your entire folders for everyone, but I'm still a fan.

This is a response from David Ingram - ShareNow

its David from ShareNow. May I answer Adam's qustions... the unique feature of ShareNow is that you can sharefiles direct from your own PC, without having to upload them anywhere, and with that route there are indeed no restrictions on downloads and no quotas, its unlimited (limited only by your hard disk size and broadband speed). Files shared in this way are immediately available, no waiting for them to be uploaded and processed on our servers.

But that also has challenges, i.e. if you turn your machine off you are no longer serving. For that reason we also give you the traditional upload option, where any files you choose can also be uploaded to your own storage on ShareNow servers. For those files there is a quota. So, you can select which model best suits which files, and you can mix and match as you wish.

The optimization of videos and images is optional, so you can indeed share the original file format. So, for example, if you have an avi that you want to share, and you don't want it crushed and messed with, you can do that with ShareNow (you just don't select the 'optimise' box when you share it. This also is unique, as you can maintain the original quality of the file shared. Granted its slower to download, but thats the trade off. You can of course share an optimized teaser, plus the native format, full-length, full quality original if you wish.

Jeez, that went on a bit, hadn't intended to write an essay, but hell, there we go:)

Peace
David Ingram, ShareNow.
